This blog has always been mainly therapeutic, but lately it's also made me feel slightly paranoid. There are so many reading it now, I get loads of curious emails from people who want to find out more, who want to date me and who want to know if I can introduce them to Mick Jagger. I'm beginning to feel it when I'm outside, walking the streets, people I meet, are they looking because they recognize me or is it maybe just in my mind?
Don't get me wrong, the attention I get is almost exclusively positive and that's what makes me want to continue. At the same time I'm giving away a lot of sensitive information about people I don't want to hurt, but I'm trying to protect them too, by not always using their real names for example.
And I understand curiosity as a driving force. It's what made me say yes to mother's invitation to go meet some of her old friends in the Village tomorrow. "Nothing fancy, just a dinner" she says. I'm sure the lady in black won't be there, but maybe someone else who might know something that I don't. It's worth a try.

If you haven't before, you should take some martial arts/defense classes. You'd be amazed at how just being aware, not even physical strength or training, can make you feel so much safer and help you completely avoid danger in the first place. It only takes one weirdo out of million positive peeps to assassinate your creative life force. Or just your physical life force.
ReplyDeleteLike the new banner by the way, you've probably had it for awhile:)
ReplyDeletereally nice and interesting..:)
ReplyDeleteI too find blogging therapeutic

avy, always protect yourself, only sharing what you feel safe. i want to think we live in world where people are mostly good, but you still need to feel secure, in whatever way that is. you don't have to answer to anyone's prying, okay?
ReplyDeleteyour photos are always the best! and I totally agree that blogging is therapeutic and it helps me relax and it's a creative outlet! don't let people bother you! I agree with the comment above though, always be careful!

Thank :) !
ReplyDeleteSorry you've been feeling like the blog's becoming a peepshow. But I'd say you do a good job of keeping people anonymous. Hope you have a lovely time out at dinner.
ReplyDeleteJust keep doing the great job you do!

It must be hard with people asking you so many questions, but just carry on with what you feel best because I think your blog is great! x
ReplyDeletesome individuals in this world just lack the sense for boundaries. i don't know what compels them to ask such personal and at times dumb questions. don't let that bother you and only pay attention to those that encourage and support you.
ReplyDeleteenjoy your weekend!
leyla.
Wait. You mean to say this isn't fiction? Geesh. I have been reading for weeks thinking just that. No one has a real life this interesting....at least i didn't think so.
ReplyDeleteYour blog is often so inscrutable. Also, people still want to meet Mick Jagger?
ReplyDeleteI think there's a delicate balance between not revealing as much as we'd like and revealing too much for the sake of our own privacy or that of those we know and love. I find tremendous allure both in your writing and in you Avy, and it will always leave me wanting to know more. For your part though I feel a great deal of boldness and courage in what you share, as someone who has chosen not to remain anonymous.
ReplyDeleteAnd so, while my questions may go unasked I feel fortunate for the chance to read your writing whether based in truth or fiction. You're definitely one of my favourite writers.
Introducing you to Mick Jagger? Are people seriously that stupid? Just because you have his last name in your blog doesn't mean you know him.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think we all get those pedo's sending us emails when we posts something they like with a window to contact us. I don't belive in online realashionships. How do you know that person for sure?
And I personally would probably stop and talk to you if I saw you walking around Central Park. Maybe a few do recognize you but you've got tons of people from other countries fallowing so not everyone can be in your neighbourhood.
I hope you get the answers you need.
what the fuck? hmph, some people definately fell out of the dumbass tree and hit every branch on the way down. (see what i did there?) ;)
ReplyDeleteive also got a lot of emails, but from people wanting a relationship?!?!?! what sort of stuff have you been posting!? hahahahah, aaaaaaaawh, people are fucking stupid, seriously. rock on though :-)
You deserve the privacy, Avy. And the ones who want to meet you, I'm one of them too. And I respect your privacy! :)
ReplyDeleteKeep your privacy close darling. I died a little inside with joy when I saw your comment on my blog. I felt special
ReplyDeleteCute Pictures :)

Honestly I like your blog because you write about your life in a private kind. I mean you don't give a lot of informations, and the photos with you in here, are always blurry, and people can't see your face-detail, and this is an awesome thing, because this leaves us to see you just from way you write...
ReplyDeleteI've just saw a girl who posted a photo with her, after a few moths of blogging, and people started automatically to judge her, because of her appearance, and that was a horrible thing because she writes beautifully.
I can't picture myself sending you a mail, because I don't know what I could write in that.
Have a wonderful evening!
P.S.: You've changed a little bit your head-photo. It look great!
xx
interesting blog...would really like if you would check out my blog...maybe follow?

Hi Avy, I came across your blog by accident. I love the way you write. Thanks for the comment on my post and don't worry, you're not likely to run into me anytime soon :) A bit too far away!
ReplyDeletewao..these pics are really good ones!! i just loved them!!
ReplyDeletegreat post Avy! :)

It is hard to write a personal blog and keep it private I have been doing it for eight years had to move once and I have had my blog found by people I'd rather not have read a couple of times. In the end I decide to stay put.
ReplyDeleteYour blog is very weird, but weird in a good way. I've been reading it in the past half hour, trying to understand a little bit more of your life. The way you write, and the things you write about remind me SO MUCH of a book that I read a year ago called 'The Wrecking Ball' by Christiana Spens.
